Hawk sightglasses, IR windowsUnfortunately, there is no way of truly predicting to what extent a breach of NFPA 70E safety guidelines (first introduced back in 1976, and revised as recently as 2004) can have on your power distribution system. The possibilities include serious injuries, unprecedented devastation and, in the absolute worst-case scenario, fatalities.

Thankfully, fully tested Inspection Windows (or 'sightglasses', as they are also known) are available to help prevent such incidents, and help maintain a safe working environment for you and your colleagues.

Our range of 'sightglasses' allow infrared energy to pass through them, permitting infrared inspections to be carried out effectively and safely, and without the need for qualified personnel to defeat safety systems or open up panel covers.

By using these 'sightglasses', the time and cost associated with thermographic inspections can be substantially reduced, whilst also improving worker safety in the process. We supply two models...

  • The Crystal range uses an infrared permeable crystal, which makes it suitable for installation outdoors and on high voltage power systems.
  • The Mesh range, which uses an aluminium mesh, is intended for use indoors and on low voltage applications.

Both of the above models comply with recognised safety standards so as to greatly reduce the inherent dangers related to inspections of this nature, and are also available in a variety of sizes.

These 'sightglasses', which are endorsed by Flir Systems, have also been carefully designed to be very easy to install and use, allowing inspections of critical components (e.g. breakers, cable terminations, connection bus bars, etc) without interrupting or disturbing ongoing operations and processes.
